Do Ouija Boards work?

Some friends and I recently conducted one and yes, the gl moved but it didn't really give us any clear information. It didn't spell anything and it was unable to tell us if it had once lived in the house... the only thing we established was that the ''spirit'' was male. I myself am very cynical about ghosts and do not believe in them but my friends all did and were most dissapointed with the lack of information provided... what went wrong?
