Do you think its wrong to have pets?

i think its fine to keep dogs since they love being people but its completely different for caged animals because theyre completely stripped of all freedom which makes me feel horrible because i have 30 rats in cages and theyre mostly rescues.. at first i thought they were really lucky being my pets because theyre in reallly big cages, have lots of toys and even better-loads of friends!but recently ive noticed a lot of them lying doing nothing all day, just being really bored and miserable and ive starting thinking they hate life and its all my fault.i tell myself wild rats dont have it much better cuz they have freedom but chances are theyll end up in glue traps and get left there to die slowly but pet rats dont have that problem so i guess in a way im protecting them but im still scared they hate me. :(
