Getting a job as Police Officer... (My Wife)?

I am trying to figure out how hard it would be to get a job as a police officer? I am in the military and my wife wants to be a police officer. I was wondering after she goes to get her AAP degree in Law Enforcement how hard is it to get a job as a County Cop or State Trooper? I have a friend who is a state trooper, but I am looking on the Web, and I'm not sure with the economy if she could even get a job after she is done with college... Anyone know what the job outlook is like?
