How do I connect a Martha Stewart pre lit christmas tree?

so all the lights are lit. I purchased this tree last year and connected all the lights with no problem. This time I have tried at least 5 times and not all my lights are on. I know they all work because if i switch the plugs around some lights will go out and others will be lit. Confused
