Why does my cat have an obsession with chasing/chewing hair?

one of my cats lies on top of the sofa behind my head and chews my hair their either grooming you or thinking its gr...believe it or not, i bought my cat this grow your own cat gr from pets at home and he seemed to stop, still has other obsession though like eating flowers and licking carrier bags.
