Days of our lives, who else loves it that Days writers are actually bringing up past events?

For a long time it seemed to me like the current writers had no clue of the history of some characters and it seemed like the characters didn't have a past by how the writers wrote them but Kate bringing up Curtis Reed and how he kept her from her children and EJ bringing up how Kate almost let Sami die by lethal injection shocked me that the writers even knew about that and i think i remember Kate bringing up about when Vivian drugged that pilot that caused Kate's plane to crash years ago. I know they brought up Vivian burring Carly alive but that seems to be the only thing they talk about because it was a memorable storyline but she has done plenty of other things that they never mention like poisoning Caroline to frame Carly. I love it when the writers bring up past events though because it makes the show look more realistic and it reminds ,us, the audience of the history of the show and how the characters have grown and i hope they keep it up.
